Jasmine T.Q. McLaurin is a writer and director hailing from Washington DC. Raised in one of the most vibrant and culturally rich cities in the world, McLaurin developed a distinctive style rooted in deep character work and the beauty of the human condition.

 

She has directed and produced a number of short films, including Ting Tang, which premiered at the Micheaux Film Festival in 2022 and received multiple award nominations, and The Checklist, which screened at the American Black Film Festival in 2026.

 

McLaurin is the recipient of Seed&Spark’s Keep It Colorful Campaign award (2018) and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Artist Fellowship (2016).

 

She is currently in pre-production on her debut feature narrative film, and continues to produce her live sketch show Sizzle for audiences across the United States.

 

McLaurin received her BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and her MFA from the Peter Stark Producing Program at the University of Southern California.
